Do you have a skill, qualification or experience that you think could help Citizen Sea? We are looking for educators, marine scientists, engineers, skippers, crew, administrators, advisors, marketing specialists and IT support to contribute to the running of Citizen Sea.

There are many opportunities to be involved with Citizen Sea, just let us know what you’re good at/ interested in! Below are some potential opportunities, however everyone will be asked to pitch in with basic maintenance, deck hand duties and events when required:

– Deck Hand Crew

– Boat Maintenance (from holding a paint brush to working with the electrics and in the engine room)

– Education and training (leading our science clubs, activities at events, teaching other volunteers and building their skills).

– Social Media

We are open for membership to private individuals and corporations who share our purpose. We have been lucky to work with several local business, crafts people, artists and bodies who have helped us to refit, maintain and run our vessel. Members support us by providing expertise, services, funding and donations in kind. Without this generosity and support we would really struggle with achieving our mission.

We will provide a bespoke vessel to like-minded organisations, with a view to achieve the following goals and public benefit;

  • The advancement of the arts, culture, maritime heritage and science


We aim to realise these objectives through the following activities;

  • Citizen Science – through collaboration with existing programmes
  • Research – through partnership with existing bodies and NGOs
  • Education – geared towards increasing awareness of maritime heritage, culture, marine science, environmental sustainability, conservation and protection
  • Training – focused on marine science skills, sustainability and education
  • Outreach – focusing on contributions to existing local campaigns e.g. marine litter clean ups
